Oculus Beat Saber x K/DA.

K/DA is a virtual K-pop group, created by Riot Games, which features four champions from League of Legends: Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai’Sa. The group made their debut with the song POP/STARS at the 2018 League of Legends World Championship in early November and became a viral hit.

With the release of POP/STARS in Beat Saber, we quickly jumped to build out a plan for how we should market the release. We pitched to have Madison Beer (the actual voice of Evelyn in the K-pop group) debut the new level in the style of a music video.

In leading the campaign for Oculus Rift and Beat Saber’s launch of ‘POP/STARS’ by K/DA, I spearheaded a creative approach that merged the energy of K-pop with the immersive world of VR gaming. My role encompassed overseeing the end-to-end creative direction, ensuring the campaign resonated with both gaming and music audiences.

The production featured exclusive behind-the-scenes footage, offering a rare glimpse into the motion capture sessions, in-game visual development, and the artists’ creative process. By crafting a compelling narrative that highlighted the synergy between Beat Saber’s gameplay and K/DA’s electrifying track, we generated massive engagement, driving excitement across both communities and reinforcing Oculus as a platform for cultural innovation.
